We can do lots of cool stuff for you. We specialize in affordable custom web design and development. However, even if the service isn't listed below... reach out and ask anyways!
Web design is important in order to create both attractive and well performing websites. It's the front door to your business on the internet, so let's get this right. To sweeten the deal, our web design services are some of the most affordable in the Portland area.
Development involves taking the vision you have for a site into actual, usable code. Don't be settle with inflexible site builders or janky, broken websites. We'll polish your site's code to perfection.
Potential clients want to find your business so they can give you their money. We can make that happen. The most beautiful site in the world is worthless if nobody ever sees it.
After hearing about our affordable web design services, it might be tempting to jump right into design or development. However, before you write a single word of content or sketch a single layout you have to have a plan. Skipping this step is a surefire way to fail. In this step we will ask you to tell us what type of person you are targeting. Who is your audience? We will ask you who your competition is, and possibly most importantly, we will ask what your goals for your website are. What do you need your website to do for you now and down the road? We need to develop a strategy to tackle the real problem that this website needs to solve and make sure we’re all on the same page about it. This is the foundation of the entire rest of the project.
At this point we will take the information you have given us and work up a plan for SEO and a sitemap detailing what content will be on each page. Once we know what content will be required, you will need to start working on writing text content for your site (or have somebody else write it ) and gathering photos and video for use on your site. We are, of course, glad to help guide you along the content creation and discovery process as well.
Now we get to the fun part. Design. We begin this phase by meeting together in person (we are Portland based), online, or over the phone and discussing your vision for the site. We will also look at different websites that you have chosen which have the feel or vibe that you want on your site. Make sure to pick at least 3-5 websites that you like the style of to show us visually what you are thinking of and point out specific things you like or dislike about each site. We find this works much better than a verbal or written description alone.
Our end of design begins with wireframing, which is a blocky digital rough draft for the layout of each page. This will typically not include any color choices, photos, or fonts. The main purpose of a wireframe is to make sure early on that the layout and text works best with the story that we are telling through your website. By this time, all text content for the website should have been submitted by you. Once we are happy with it, wireframes will be sent to the client (that's you!) for approval. If you have any changes to the layout, now is the time to request them, as it will take much longer to do later and your included amount of revision time is limited.

Just as a heads up, if we don’t hear back from you within 72 hours we’ll generally take that as a go-ahead to move forward. Feel free to ask us to hold off if you have revisions to make but don’t have the time to detail them out for a few days.
After any revisions to the mockups have been finalized, we can finally get started on development. This is taking those static pictures of the web pages that we have created and coding them out to be actual living, breathing websites. At this point you will be able to see the site come together on your computer or phone via a staging site and we will begin adding animation and functionality. Once we finish the site, we will help migrate it over to your hosting and/or domain if needed and give you one last chance to ask for any changes. After you're happy with the site, we can show you how to make updates to the site content.
Now we get into the long game. Think about it, what good is your site if nobody sees it? How useful will it be if it suddenly breaks? The solutions to the problems are (surprise, surprise) SEO and maintenance.
SEO is almost always going to start with keyword research and competitor research. We can’t know what keywords or phrases to target with your site if we don’t know which keywords are bringing in traffic and which ones aren’t. This will likely be a joint effort between you or a knowledgeable member of your team and one of our expert SEO consultants. If you're getting our SEO Kickstart package on a site build, we will do this research with the rest of the planning before any content is written in Step 1: Research and Planning.
Once the keyword research and refinement phase is all over, now starts actual optimization. This is specific to each site, that’s why we call our SEO campaign plan for each client “custom”. Sorry, I can’t really get into specifics without explaining everything I’ve learned in all my years of search engine optimization. Just know that it will include updating the content on your main site as well as creating new landing pages specifically geared towards ranking for new keywords. This will be a joint effort between us as we act a bit like a personal trainer for you and your rankings.
How long it takes for your site to start ranking well depends on literally dozens of different factors, one of the most important being how competitive the keyword you are targeting is. There are no guarantees in the world of SEO. However, you should expect to see some small SEO boosts for Portland searches pretty quickly and after a few months we should be able to get you onto the first page of Google for certain Portland related phrases.
Maintenance simply involves us doing boring & technical developer junk in order to keep your site running smoothly and keep every part of it updated. We can do this on a month to month contract or pay us hourly whenever you notice something is wrong. If at any point during this process you’re unhappy with our SEO or maintenance services you can cancel at any time. No long term contracts. Period. Depending on the platform you go with and your technical abilities, this may be something you can do on your own. Let us know if this is something you want to do and we will help inform you and get you going on performing your own maintenance.
